Our Church
The Welwyn Garden City Adventist Community Church warmly welcomes all who worship with us and we want you to feel relaxed and enjoy your time. We try to create an informal but reverent atmosphere in which to sing praises, read God’s word, meditate in prayer and participate in God’s message. We don't have our own church building but we are lucky enough to be able to meet each Saturday in part of Applecroft Primary School.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a welcoming and caring environment in which everyone is valued and nurtured and from which the needs of our community can be served and supported.
Our Vision
Our vision is to grow personally, as a church and as part of our community.
· We aim to grow on an personal level by strengthening our personal relationship with God through the study of His word and by developing our individual gifts and talents.
· We aim to grow as a church by nurturing and equipping our members for service, inspiring them through creative worship and empowering them to share their faith with others.
· We aim to grow as part of our community by adopting an inclusive approach in responding to local needs, becoming involved in local issues and developing local awareness of the contribution we make.
Our Values
God’s love is interwoven into the fabric of our lives and is revealed through His word, expressed through His promises to us, and shared with His children.
· God’s Word - Our textbook for living is the Bible. It provides us with the principles we aspire to live by and reveals God’s character and love.
· God’s Promises - God is faithful and keeps His promises to us which in turn strengthens our faith and belief in Him.
· God’s Children - We consider every individual to be a child of God so we welcome and encourage their presence, creativity and expressions of worship.
Our History
The Welwyn Garden City Adventist Community Church started as a “church plant”. There is a Core Team who previously attended the St Albans Seventh-day Adventist Church but are committed to working in and with the Welwyn Garden City community, particularly around Applecroft School where we’re based.
We are working hard to build strong links with the School, build up trust and confidence between us and then move forward with plans to create a community-based project from the school at some point in the future.
Our Church Plant was launched on 13th September 2003 after several months planning and preparation by a dedicated team from St. Albans SDA Church
We initially began meeting at the Backhouse Room in Welwyn Garden City. Since then our numbers have gradually increased and it become clear we would need somewhere bigger and with more facilities, especially for kids.
Fortunately our search for another venue eventually led us just around the corner to Applecroft School where we’re now based. We’ve been holding worship services there since 10th January 2004.
In 2007 the Church Plant became a recognised Church Company as part of the South England Conference of Seventh Day Adventist churches.
We’re encouraging those who worship with us to also be part of something which helps enrich or benefits the community. We want to make a positive difference.
